CTE course developed for Virginia licensed K-12 teachers. This course explores the basic applications, care, general use, and use with other classroom technology such as how to use your iPad with or as an interactive whiteboard. Participants will additionally explore some of the best applications to use in the classroom.

THIS FOUR DAY INSTITUTE IS A CONTINUATION OF MATHEMATRICKS 1 (EDU-C462). THIS COURSE FOCUSES ON REFRESHING TEACHERS? CONCEPTUAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE VIRGINIA MATH STANDARDS OF LEARNING WHILE PROVIDING BEST PRACTICES AND STRATEGIES TO TEACH THE CONCEPTS TO THEIR STUDENTS. ACTIVITIES WILL ADDRESS EACH OF THE REPORTING CATEGORIES FOR THE MATH SOLS. PARTICIPANTS WILL TAKE HOME ACTIVITIES AND RESOURCES FOR USE WITH THEIR STUDENTS. STUDENTS IN THIS COURSE SHOULD BE ABLE TO: EXPLORE AND CREATE MANIPULATIVES FOR USE IN THE CLASSROOM; IDENTIFY ITEMS AND MANIPULATIVES THAT CAN HELP WITH DIFFERENTIATION; IDENTIFY STRATEGIES TO EFFECTIVELY INSTRUCT STUDENTS IN THE MATHEMATICS CLASSROOM; EXPLORE AND LOCATE HIGH-QUALITY WEB-BASED MATH RESOURCES; EXAMINE INQUIRY-BASED INSTRUCTION WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF STATE?S STANDARDS; AND INTEGRATE DIGITAL MEDIA INTO THE MATHEMATICS CLASSROOM.
